You normally need to take an English language exam, which are required by universities, immigration departments, professional bodies and employers. 1. IELTS: International English Language Testing System

IELTS is the most popular English language test for academic and professional purposes and is accepted by over 140 countries. The test assesses four skill areas: speaking, reading, listening, and writing. It has two modules: Academic and General.

Academic test: For Bachelor and Master's level students.
General test: For migration or study below degree level.

Reading

⏱ 60 minutes | 40 questions | 3 passages (2,000 to 2,750 words)

Writing

  • Task 1: Write 150 words in 20 minutes
  • Task 2: Write 250 words in 40 minutes

Speaking

🗣 Oral interview (10–15 minutes)

Listening

🎧 30 minutes for 40 questions + 10 minutes to transfer answers


2. GRE: Graduate Record Examination

GRE is an admission test for graduate programs in engineering, sciences, and business in the USA. Over 3000 programs accept GRE scores worldwide.

3. PTE: Pearson Test of English

PTE Academic tests real-life English via a computer-based format. Taken at Pearson test centers with headphones and mic.

Part 1: Speaking & Writing (77–93 minutes)

4. TOEFL: Test of English as a Foreign Language

TOEFL iBT® tests Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing in a 3-hour exam. It integrates multiple skills across tasks.
